Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 3/4cups shortening
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 egg
- 6 medium cooking apples
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
- Cream or whipped cream
Directions:
Combine first six ingredients. Chill 15 minutes. Roll to a little less than 1/8’ thick. Cut into six 7” squares. Peel and core apples. Bring to a full boil - 1 cup sugar. two cups water. 3 tbls butter and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Please an apple on each square. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon together and use to fill apples. Dot with butter. Bring opposite points up, moisten and seal. Put a few inches apart on baking dish. Pour hot syrup over and bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes.
Serve with cream.
