Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4cups shortening
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 6 medium cooking apples
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Cream or whipped cream

Directions:
Combine first six ingredients. Chill 15 minutes. Roll to a little less than 1/8’ thick. Cut into six 7” squares. Peel and core apples. Bring to a full boil - 1 cup sugar. two cups water. 3 tbls butter and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Please an apple on each square. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon together and use to fill apples. Dot with butter. Bring opposite points up, moisten and seal. Put a few inches apart on baking dish. Pour hot syrup over and bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with cream.
