Nut Bread
Makes 12 servings.
Ingredients:
- 5 cups flour
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1 yeast cake
- 1/2 pint sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
dissolve yeast in warmed milk. Sift sugar and salt in bowl. Add egg yolks, shortening, sour cream and yeast
mixture. Knead 5 to 10 minutes until smooth. Let rise 1/2 hour. Cut in half. Roll to 1/4 thickness. Spread with filling
and roll. Bake on un-greased cooking sheet at 325 degrees for 50 minutes.
Nut filling:
- 2 parts chopped walnuts
- 1 part confectioners sugar
- beaten egg whites to moisten
