Raisin Bread
Ingredients:
- 12 cups flour
- 1/2 pound butter
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 can water
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 7 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
- 1 cup raisins
Directions:
soak raisins in warm water for two hours to soften. Drain and flour.
Blend 4 cups of flour, sugar, salt and yeast in large mixing bowl. Heat cream, water and butter until warm (butter
will not melt completely). Add to dry ingredients. Add eggs, 4 cups of flour. Add raisins and remaining 4 cups of
flour. Knead for 5 to 10 minutes until smooth. More flour may be needed.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours. Punch down. Cut into three pieces. Form into loaves and place in
greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise one hour. Coat tops of loaves with egg yolks mixed with a little water. Bake
at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
